In an ironic twist of fate, after saying ‘I do’, my initials became K.A.L.M. A pleasant set of letters to be sure—but isn’t it funny how the universe presents to you what you need to learn most? I hear ya universe. While I appear calm as a cat in the sunshine, inside there’s a wild Arizona monsoon whipping around. Luckily my ‘I do’ is a wildland firefighter!

 

I don’t know about you, but I feel a certain amount of pressure to fulfill my destiny. Foremost, to be the best mama I can be, next, to secure my lifelong ambition of authorship, and finally, to live up to these initials bestowed upon me. They are all a work in progress.

 

I value the feeling of calm, especially in this unfamiliar world we have found ourselves living in. If you’re like me, you’ve had experiences that have rattled you. And maybe those memories and responses barge into a perfectly nice day, spilling your cuppa all over the place. Again!

 

I’m on a quest to drink in more calm and joy throughout the day, not just at the end of it. More calm means enjoying all of those simple moments right where I find them. My hope is that you might find something cozy within these pages that softens your day as well. Sometimes all it takes is dusting off a forgotten book and curling up in an easy chair with the kiddos . . . while sipping more hot chocolate.
