Well, isn’t this nice! I created a nice, cozy space to jot down things of absolutely no consequence. What I like most about this is that notes don’t need rules. I can use poor grammar, far too many adverbs, and ramble on without care. There will be no stress here to attend to plot, purpose, or coherence. And I don’t think I will even attempt to be creative. I hope to use this space to share little moments – or whatever. Just a nice casual conversation. Generally, I don’t speak how I write professionally (mostly). But I guess, who does? I don’t know. Not me (mostly). Also, I should mention, that my apostrophe and quotation mark key on my laptop is broken and apparently unfixable. This happened shortly after I finished writing my novel. It was plum-tuckered out. So now, I have to copy and paste every single time I need to use them. Or I will wait for auto-correct to pop up, but this doesn’t always happen. It really, really sucks and is a huge time waster. I’d like to say that I can just breeze through and not even care in ´notes´. See, those little accent marks are what happens when I type quotes or an apostrophe. 😂 But Iḿ not sure Iḿ strong enough to let them go! There, I tried it. ¨Notes¨ — oh, and it also makes these tiny short quote things sometimes, too. I don’t know. I’m very sure I have accidentally sent editors these random mistakes here and there, noooooooo! What is a writer to do? I do have an actual desktop computer, but the internet barely chugs along on it. It’s where we live (the moon probably has a better connection) and we are seriously considering Starlink.
Anyway, so how have your couple weeks been going? Mine have been quite unenjoyable. It’s true that things seem to happen all at once. My husband was sent out of state to tend to fires (he’s a wildland firefighter). And of course, the three of us got sick. It pretty much never fails. Our situation makes certain things slightly more challenging since we live somewhat remotely; e.g., groceries. The doc said the kids should be out for the week. While I was down, and having a hard time focusing on writing – the brain fog is real it seems – I remembered I had been wanting to put together a video to jazz up my website. These things take so much time, but it was a good opportunity to use my time wisely while waiting for the crud to subside. It took me soooo long, lol. And it was tricky to get it to cooperate with me and the website. But, I finally finished it, and I hope you like it!
One more thing to note: I love using my own photos for my writing images. Besides the video I just made (except for the story) and the pretty cloud gif on the front, everything else is my own creation (unless otherwise noted). But this takes a good deal of time, and in this space, I think it might hold me back while trying to capture and choose a photo. For the purpose of notes, I think I might use the same pic. That’ll save me more time to share all of this thrilling stuff.
Also, I’d love to start a newsletter. But! I need to have more news to share, lol. I have a couple of writing projects in the works, and it would be so awesome to share some good news. An agent requested some of my book! And an editor is reviewing another piece I wrote. Fingers and everything else crossed!
