Occasionally, I play word games. I like words (obviously), but sometimes, as a writer writing all day long, they can get on my nerves. You spelled me wrong! I don’t think I mean what you think I mean! You already used me ten billion times, and I need a break! I’m too frilly for this sentence! Too serious! Too boring! Stop chopping us up with commas! Another exclamation point, are you kidding me! You need a question mark there, pfffft.
See! Annoying! So when I need a break, I turn to … words. Apparently, I can’t get enough of them. I’ve found that if I place them in games (go sit on your beanbag chair, words! – type of thing), we all have fun! I find it strangely relaxing, and then we’re best friends again—a soak in the alphabet soup spa at 2 a.m.
Anyhey, if your words need a nice break, too (writing or reading), then maybe a word game will help. Calm is a nice word!
